The South Platte River flowing below Cheesman Canyon through the small town of Deckers is a gold-medal fishing area featuring access points along a 20-mile stretch of the river. Expect to catch mostly Browns and Rainbows, with the occasional Cutthroat. The average size of the trout here is 14-16 inches, however, 20 - 24 inch trout are not out of the possibility.
Fed by water from Cheesman Reservoir, the water temperature remains relatively consistent throughout the year at Deckers. This tailwater at Deckers provides trout with the ideal nutrients and conditions needed for the growth of large trout.
